COVCHEG External for Rust: launch and system preparation

This page walks through starting COVCHEG External for Rust from a USB flash drive and getting the PC ready for it. By the end you will have the loader running from removable media, Overwolf with Arkbuddy configured, and the cheat menu opening inside the game.

Read this first

  • Run the software from removable media only — a USB flash drive.
  • Delete the loader from Downloads and any other folders: the only copy must be the one on the flash drive.
  • Unplug the flash drive from the PC after the loader menu closes, otherwise you risk an EAC ban.
  • The flash drive with the loader must be physically disconnected when you start Rust.

Software launch process

Product support is available in Discord and Telegram. A video tutorial is included in the materials you receive after purchase.

  1. Download the loader from the link in your purchase email or on your order page.
  2. Plug in a USB flash drive and copy the loader onto it.
  3. Close the Steam client completely from the system tray (Steam icon → Exit), exactly as described in your email.
  4. Start the loader from the flash drive and wait for the loader menu to appear. Steps 1–2 have to be repeated before every launch, and the flash drive with the loader must be physically unplugged by the time you start Rust.
  5. Click Start and wait for the loading to finish. If everything from System preparation is done, the loader may ask for a reboot — click Yes. If something is still missing, the loader will report it.
  6. After the reboot, install Overwolf from the official site: https://www.overwolf.com/
  7. Open the Overwolf app library, find Arkbuddy, install it and launch it.
  8. Go to Overwolf settings → Overlay & Hotkeys and turn off the in-game overlay for Rust. Screenshots in the guide may show a different game — select Rust.
  9. In Arkbuddy, click Toggle Crosshair and make sure the crosshair shows up.
  10. Start the loader again as described in steps 1–2 and click Start.
  11. Wait until the loader menu closes. The message Start the game and press F5 in game main menu should appear — click OK. Keep following the loader's messages, and contact support if you get an error.
  12. Launch Rust, and in the main menu press F5 until the product menu opens. The loader should report success and the cheat menu should appear. If it does not, contact support.

System preparation

  1. Turn on virtualization in BIOS (Intel VT-x / AMD-V). Video guide: https://youtu.be/LQIyowZMiY8 — then confirm it in Task Manager (CPU → Virtualization enabled).
  2. Enable the Hyper-V Windows feature and reboot when Windows asks for it. If the component is not present in the system, use the developer's batch file or ask support for help, then reboot once more.
  3. Make sure the system disk uses GPT and not MBR. How to check: https://www.diskpart.com/gpt-mbr/check-if-disk-is-gpt.html — with MBR you will have to reinstall Windows on a GPT disk.
  4. Set the BIOS boot mode to UEFI: https://www.diskpart.com/gpt-mbr/enable-uefi-mode-0725.html
  5. Disable Secure Boot in BIOS: https://support.avira.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003038074-How-do-I-disable-UEFI-Secure-Boot

Once every point above is done, move on to launching the software. If any step cannot be completed, contact support.

FAQ

Can I keep the loader on the desktop or in Downloads?
No. The loader has to be launched from a USB flash drive, and any copies in Downloads or other folders on the PC must be removed. Only the copy on the flash drive should remain.
Do I need to leave the flash drive plugged in while playing?
No. Once the loader menu closes, take the flash drive out of the PC — leaving it connected creates a risk of an EAC ban. By the time Rust starts, the drive with the loader must be physically unplugged.
The cheat menu does not open in game. What should I do?
Launch Rust and press F5 in the main menu until the product menu opens. The loader should confirm success. If nothing happens or the loader shows an error, contact support in Discord or Telegram.
Why do I need Overwolf and Arkbuddy?
Install Overwolf from https://www.overwolf.com/, then install and launch Arkbuddy from its app library. In Overwolf settings → Overlay & Hotkeys turn off the in-game overlay for Rust, and in Arkbuddy click Toggle Crosshair and check that the crosshair appears.
My system disk is MBR — can I still run the software?
The system disk has to be GPT. You can verify the current layout with the guide at https://www.diskpart.com/gpt-mbr/check-if-disk-is-gpt.html. If the disk is MBR, Windows has to be reinstalled on a GPT disk.
Do I have to repeat anything before every launch?
Yes. Before each launch, connect the flash drive with the loader, fully exit Steam from the system tray and start the loader from the drive, then wait for the loader menu.
