What was announced
Sea of Thieves is running another #StyleOfThieves social contest. Players will build an outfit around a theme, take a screenshot, and submit it during the 24-hour entry window for that category.
The first four category windows open at 10am UTC on August 31, September 1, September 2, and September 3. The announced themes include The Elements and Super Villain. Four winners will be selected in each category, for 16 winners overall, with results planned for September 11.
The Fashionista’s Finery Gloves prize has received a colour adjustment so it better matches other social contest rewards. The developers also say the contest format itself is not changing.
Impact on software
There is no technical software impact stated in this announcement. It does not contain a game build number, a client patch, anti-cheat changes, or a ban-wave notice. On that information alone, there is no reason to expect an update for Arcane or to sit out solely because this contest is happening.
The event encourages outfit shots and the use of Free Camera in Custom Seas. That does not make third-party tools approved for screenshots or contest participation. Cheat risk still exists independently of the contest and can involve detections, player reports, behaviour, and game-side changes. See why cheats get detected for the factors that can affect a product’s status.
Run it or wait?
Based on this post, there is no contest-specific reason to wait. It is not an update notice. That is not a safety promise, and it does not replace checking the product’s current status before every session.
If you play while the contest is active, keep public contest posts and software use separate. Before a regular session, follow the safe launch checklist. If Arcane’s status changes following a future Sea of Thieves update, that status notice matters more than this fashion-event announcement.
For contest entrants
An entry needs an outfit from the Clothing and Vanity Chests, a screenshot where the full look can be seen, and a post submitted inside that theme’s 24-hour window. Free Camera in Custom Seas is mentioned as an option, but the developers ask entrants not to frame out parts of the outfit.
The reward and entry rules apply to Sea of Thieves’ official social activity. This announcement does not grant permission for third-party software or alter how such software may be detected.
