Squad 10.5.2: Suppression Rework and What It Means for Cheats
Update 10.5.2 is entirely about Suppression: reworked visuals, rebalanced build-up and decay, and a brand new sway system. No anti-cheat changes are listed — but shooting conditions are different now.
Squad rolled out update 10.5.2, focused solely on suppression and bullet pass-by audio. The patch notes say nothing about anti-cheat, player classes or netcode rewrites. So there is no emergency reason to shut your software down — yet the environment your aim works in has shifted a lot.
What actually changed
Suppression visual effects were rebuilt from scratch. Accumulation and decay rates were retuned, and the amount of suppression each weapon and projectile deals was rebalanced. VFX, sway and other per-tier effects were rebalanced too.
Suppression now blocks holding your breath to stabilise the weapon, but it does not block zooming. Running out of breath cancels only the stabilisation — the camera zoom stays. Scoped weapons still get no zoom focus; the devs say that is coming later.
The snap/crack pass-by audio was improved, and the transition fade distance between those sounds is now tied to each caliber’s suppression radius.
The big one for aimbots: sway runs on a new system
The old Suppression Sway system in SuppressionInfo is gone. It was replaced by a suppression sway curve in SQSoldier driven by the soldier’s suppression percentage, so every suppression effect comes from one input.
On top of that, sway speed can now scale with suppression level, stamina spent and whether the player is moving. A pile of bugs got closed as well: sway no longer resets on weapon switch, no longer ignores the Closeness Factor curve, and no longer zeroes out when a weaker projectile follows a stronger one.
Translation for players: the old reset bugs let you partly cheese suppression, and that window is closed. Any aimbot will miss more while you are being suppressed — not because the cheat broke, but because the gun genuinely drifts. Expect your hit rate under fire to drop.
Practical answer: break line of fire first, shoot second. Solid ESP is worth more here than raw aim, because it lets you avoid walking into suppression at all.
Do you need to wait for an update?
The patch does not appear to move object structures — it touches gameplay logic and the SDK. Still, every provider ties builds to a game version differently: some go offline automatically, some need a manual push. Check the status on our Squad cheats page and in your provider’s channel before you launch.
If your build leans on visual filters, pay closer attention. Camera Effects and post process handling were reworked, an optional pinhole-style suppression blur was added for mods, and custom suppression configs need updating according to the notes. Overlays drawn on top of the frame can behave differently against new effects — verify your streamproof setup and HUD readability.
What to run
Pick by how much close combat you actually take. External options like Mason External and Arcane cover the essentials with a lighter footprint, SMG is the widest feature set, and Clutch runs on separate hardware if the DMA approach fits your risk model.
Routine for the first days after a patch stays the same: do not jump straight into a match after updating, wait for the developer to confirm the build works, and walk through the safe launch checklist. Nothing is guaranteed on any build — the quieter your stats look, the longer the account lives. And keep in mind why cheats get detected: a patch without the word anti-cheat in it does not mean the backend stayed still.
